Calgary's Youth Vital Signs
What is Youth Vital Signs?

Youth Central (formerly Child and Youth Friendly Calgary), in partnership with The Calgary Foundation, recognizes that whether by design or by accident, the voices, opinions and knowledge of young people are often not included in planning, policy and decision-making processes that directly impact their lives.   Youth – particularly those under 18 – can’t vote and may not have the same kinds of political, financial and personal power that other groups of adults take for granted. We know youth have valid opinions, good ideas and a concern for the future of their communities.   We also know there are many decision-makers in the public and private sectors, in non-profits, and the media who want to know how youth understand the world, and are willing to provide support and resources to make sure youth are heard.
Youth Vital Signs will be the catalyst.
We’re asking youth to complete an online survey that measures quality of life in 12 key issue areas. The results will be published in the 2010 Youth Vital Signs Report in the Calgary Herald on April28th.
